Varamozhi audio library launched by TKMCE NSS-Units on 27th June 2021

The audio library 'Varamozhi' was released to enlighten the visually impaired to the endless world of books. Varamozhi was launched by APJAKTU NSS Kollam-Pathanamthitta Regional Coordinator Prof. Sharos H during the annual meetup ceremony of NSS Units 174 & 262 of TKM College of Engineering which held through the Zoom platform on 27th June 2021. More than 50 books encompassing Aithihyamala and Sherlock Holmes are included in the library. It also consists of numerous works of Basheer and so many world classics such as A Thread, The lady with the pet dog, Hills like white elephant, and also our infamous native novels like Khasakinte Ithihasam, Vasanavikrithi, Naalukett, Manju, and many more. The volunteers of NSS TKMCE are trying to prove that visually challenged people also have a space in the world of books.

Shruthipadam, the audio library of the Kerala Federation of Blind Teachers' Forum in association with SCERT, was set up to help visually impaired people to understand books. Inspired from this, NSS Units 174 & 262 of TKM College of Engineering commenced this audio library titled 'Varamozhi' to help the visually impaired. Varamozhi took the first step during Hestia'20 with an audio library drive. It was also included in the Harishree programme conducted as part of the reading week in which students from various colleges became a part of this initiative. We have started taking measures to broaden the reach of this initiative into a wider community.

The audio library books are available through leading streaming platforms.
