SAEINDIA Collegiate Club – An official SAEINDIA student Club having a minimum of 50 student members, with a senior faculty Adviser and additional faculty Adviser, elected student club officers are squired to constitute a SAEINDIA Collegiate Club. SAEINDIA Collegiate Club of TKM College of Engineering consists of 2 faculty advisors and 86 student members. Collegiate clubs provide the students with the ability to contact individuals working in the engineering fields and in doing so, further the objectives of engineering education. Collegiate clubs provide many other benefits to their members and are valuable forums for the Colleges.
The objective of this organization is to provide its members opportunities to gain broader insight into the engineering profession by sponsoring meeting that will bring practicing engineers to the campus, arranging field trips to research and engineering establishments, sponsoring student projects of engineering interest, and participating in SAEINDIA Section activities.
Students attending TKM College of Engineering who are SAEINDIA student members or SAEINDIA members are qualified to become members of this organization.
Virtual Baja 2016 : Momentous Feat.
Baja is the most elaborate and paramount competition in the field of mechanical engineering in India conducted by SAEINDIA. It involves the design, pitching, marketing and fabrication of an All Terrain Vehicle. Every part of the ATV is to be designed for best performance with the engine provided. The SAE India collegiate club of TKMCE has found success in the flagship event conducted by SAE named Virtual Baja. They have been ranked 32nd in All India among 420 teams and finished 1st from Kerala, surpassing many of the premier institutions of the country. We are the first team ever to qualify for the Main Baja event from Kerala University, which is to be held in February 2017 at Indore. The team comprises of 25 members from 2nd, 3rd as well as final year Mechanical and Production engineering streams.
1. Membership Campaign
The SAE membership campaign was conducted at the Jubilee Hall on 3rd March 2016 at 4 pm. Headed by Dr. Rijo Jacob Thomas, a group of volunteers explained the perks of being a member of SAE to the audience consisting of mechanical students from all the different years. The event led to registration of 86 students for SAE TKMCE Collegiate Club which includes 56 students from 1st year, 17 students from 2nd year and 16 students from 3rd year.
2. Virtual BAJA 2016
Our team, “XLR8 Racing” participated in the Virtual Baja event held at Christ University, Faculty of Engineering, Bangalore during 24, 25 June 2016. The team comprised of 25 members from 2nd, 3rd as well as final year Mechanical and Production engineering streams. They have been ranked 32nd in All India among 420 teams and finished 1st from Kerala, surpassing many of the premier institutions of the country.
3. Main BAJA
Main Baja event will be held in February 2017 at Indore. The team is now doing all the preparations and getting geared up for the event. The activities of our team is encouraged and financially supported by the TKM College Trust and the College. We wish them all the success.
