S. Ayoob, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of TKM College of Engineering and is a research guide at the University of Kerala. He graduated in Civil Engineering from TKM College of Engineering, Kollam and obtained his Master’s and Doctoral Degrees from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He had also headed the Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Management in the International College of Engineering and Management, Sultanate of Oman (affiliated to the University of Central Lancashire, UK) as course leader for a short period. His doctoral work was on a topic of great global concern; on removal of excess fluoride from drinking water. He is the author of many best cited papers in international journals. His first research publication in 2006 in the international journal of ‘critical reviews in environmental science and technology’ is credited with record number of citations and is still adjudged as one of the best cited papers of the journal.
