M. Tech. Power System Engineering

Research in the Power Systems is concerned with the generation, transmission and utilization of electrical energy, this introduces unprecedented challenges and wide scope for power and energy systems research and open up new opportunities to young Power Engineers. Major research areas within the group include power electronics, electric drive systems, power systems, grid integration of renewables and energy storage, magnetic devices and computational electromagnetics.

M. Tech. program in Power System Engineering (self-financing) started in the year 2016 is intended to explore the above mentioned challenges and also initiate research activities. This program provides necessary theoretical background with a good blend of applied mathematics along with in depth coverage in analysis of power systems. The core courses include sustainable, economic, efficient and reliable energy conversion, generation, transmission, distribution, storage and utilization of electric energy, including application of power electronics and Artificial Intelligence in power system operation and control.
