About the Department

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the year 1977, has carved a niche for itself by offering the most competent instructional programme to the students. TKM College of Engineering is one of the pioneers in introducing the Bachelor Program in Electronics & Communication Engineering in Kerala. The department currently offers a B. Tech. programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 120 students in 2 batches and one M. Tech programme in Communication System with an intake of 18 students. The department is NBA accredited since the year 2016. It offers a unique blend of expertise in all the thrust areas of Electronics & Communication domain. It is envisaged that such a vision can be achieved through generating highly trained students capable of integrating research and development in electronics field. International Students from Tanzania, Nepal are graduates from this Department. The department has been consistently producing illustrious graduates who occupy prestigious positions in Industry, Academics, Civil Services, Defense ,Entrepreneurship and Research fields across India and abroad. Department of ECE has academic collaborations with premier Institutes like IIT Chennai, IIT Palakkad and NIT Calicut in joint research projects. It has industrial linkage with the leading organizations such as Analog devices, Tata Elxsi, Verdant Telemetry & Antenna Systems, Triassic Systems etc.,to carry out research, consultancy works and internships programs. The department is an approved research center, 6 scholars have successfully completed their PhD. Currently the department has 15 research scholars.

Electronics & Communication Department has well experienced faculty with postgraduate and doctoral qualifications from prestigious institutions with many international and national publications to their credit. They work with zeal to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment for their students. Faculty members of the Department holds three patents in their acclaim. The performance of our students in University examinations, Indian Civil Service, Indian Engineering services, GATE, CAT and other competitive examinations are excellent. A good number of students placed in reputed Organizations every year. Our students regularly figure among the top rank holders of the University and their participation in national and international conferences are exceptional.

The department has well equipped laboratories, computing facilities and a department library with more than 3000 volumes of books, subscribed journals and technical magazines. The ECE association of the department organizes various technical programmes related to academics and personality development including national seminars, paper presentations and workshops in state of the art technologies. Functioning of the technical societies namely IEEE,IETE and ISTE in the Department provides ample opportunities for the students and faculty to continuously learn, interact, collaborate, and innovate.
