The Tink-Her-Hack Impact Meet 2025 was held on May 2, 2025, at TinkerSpace, celebrating the success of the world's largest offline hackathon for women. Over 70 attendees, including Principals, faculty members, and organizers from 63 institutions across Kerala, participated. Shri Hibi Eden, member of parliament and Shri Anoop Ambika, CEO of Kerala Startup Mission, delivered keynote speeches, praising the initiative's inclusive approach and institution-led innovation ecosystems. The event honoured institutions that created safe spaces for women in tech, recognizing their commitment to empowering female talent.
Dr. Sadiq A, Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Dean (Industry Connect, Entrepreneurship and Business Development) of TKM College of Engineering is granted 4th patent for a remarkable medical innovation titled ‘A Device for the Hearing Impaired ’ (Patent No. 539389, Application No. 202041001204). This invention features a hearing aid, that works based on the principle of ‘electromagnetic gun induced bone conduction,’ designed to assist individuals with hearing impairments, even those without an eardrum, in experiencing sound.
The project titled “Developing a Sustainable Hybrid Chemical-Bio-Coagulant (HCBC) for the Removal of Micro/Nanoplastics from Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants” proposed by the Dept of Civil Engineering has been awarded funding of Rs. 8,48,000 under the Engineering & Technology Programme (ETP) of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE). Dr. Priya K.L (Associate Professor) is the Principal Investigator of the project and Dr. Indu M.S (Assistant Professor) serves as the co-principal Investigator.
Hearty Congratulations to Ms Susan Mariam Rajesh of Final year Civil Engg (2021-25 batch) who got admission for Masters at Texas A&M University USA with the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering Excellence Fellowship. Moreover she got selected for Masters at three more prestigious universities like University of Colorado Boulder, University of California Irvine and University of Texas Arlington in USA. She was one of the students who completed the International internship at University of Oulu Finland in 2024.
Dr.K.L.Priya, Faculty, Civil Engineering Department, TKM College of Engineering was the lead chair for two sessions at the International Conference on Coastal Estuarine Research Federation (CERF), USA on 11 November 2021. Co-chairs were from Synthesis Environmental LLC, US, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan, University of the Philippines, and Ibn Tofail University, Morocco. Two UG student groups from the civil engineering department, TKMCE who presented their work at the conference, brought home awards worth USD 400. All of this was made possible through collaborations with the University of the Philippines Los Baños and Ibn Tofail University, Morocco.
Prof. Al Ameen A, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering Department has been granted an Indian Patent for the invention " Copper -Zinc- Magnesium Catalyst for Highly Selective Conversion of Glycerol to 1,2- Propanediol in Liquid Phase".
Dr. Indu M S, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering is granted an Indian patent for the invention entitled ‘A METHOD FOR COATING LEAD DIOXIDE ON MILD STEEL BY ELECTRODEPOSITION FROM ALKALINE BATH AND COATED ELECTRODE OBTAINED THEREOF’. The electrode material developed is used in the treatment of organic wastewater using electrochemical oxidation method and is cost effective compared to other electrodes used for the same purpose. The patent is a result of her doctoral research work carried out at IIT Kharagpur and is awarded for a term of 20 years.
