Power Electronics and Instrumentation Lab

Power electronics studies the application of semiconductor devices to the conversion and control of electrical energy. The field is driving an era of rapid change in all aspects of electrical energy. A power electronic circuit is intended to control or convert power at levels far above the device ratings.

The power electronics and instrumentation lab introduces the students to the world of high power circuits where they learn to control various aspects power electronic circuits using different power semiconductor switches such as MOSFET,SCR and Power BJT. Power electronic converter circuits such as Buck , Boost, Buck-Boost, Push-Pull, Half Bridge and Full Bridge converter experiments are been conducted for the undergraduate students.

Students learn the concept of calibrating a measuring instrument for measuring physical quaintites such as temperature, strain, displacement. They acquire knowledge about various transducers such as LVDT, Diode Thermometer, RTD, strain gauge, solar cell.
