20th May 2025: TKMCE and Tokyo Metropolitan University signs a historic MoU

TKM College of Engineering signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU), Japan, in a ceremony attended by dignitaries including the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Tokyo. TKMCE becomes the first college from Kerala to collaborate with TMU.

Future Prospects:

The MoU is expected to further strengthen the partnership, expanding to other departments and new joint ventures.

18th April 2025: Collaboration Initiation meeting at the University of Washington, USA

On April 18, 2025, a delegation from TKM visited the University of Washington to explore potential avenues for academic collaboration. The delegation included Dr. S. Ayoob (Executive Director), Dr. A. Sudheer (Dean, Alumni Affairs), Er. Rajesh R. Nair (Alumnus, 2005 CE), and Er. Rajesh Nanoo (Alumnus, 1995 CSE). Notably, Er. Rajesh R. Nair, who also earned his MBA degree from the University of Washington in 2019, played a key role in facilitating the visit.

During their time at UW, the team held in-depth discussions with Dr. Dan Turner (Associate Dean, Master's Programs, Michael G. Foster School of Business) and Dr. Erin Duran (Director of Technology Management, Foster School of Business). The conversations centered around opportunities for collaborative research, as well as faculty and student exchange programs between the institutions.

The delegation expressed particular interest in the Technology Management MBA program offered by the Michael G. Foster School of Business, noting its strong alignment with the academic and professional focus areas of TKMCE and the TKM Institute of Management.

15th April 2025: Collaboration follow up and advancement visit at Marshall University, USA

A delegation from TKM College of Engineering visited Marshall University, USA, on April 15, 2025, to advance the collaborative efforts outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions.

The delegation was led by Dr. M. Haroon M (Member, TKM College Trust), Dr. S. Ayoob (Executive Director), and Dr. Sudheer A (Dean, Alumni and International Collaborations).

During their visit, the team engaged in productive discussions with senior academic leaders and visited several key departments and schools at Marshall University. These includes the Bill Noe Flight school, Brad D Smith School of Business and Lewis College of Business, School of Pharmacy, College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, and the School of Biosciences.

The TKM delegation held meetings with:

  • Dr. Ben Eng (Assistant Provost for Academic Engagement & Innovation);
  • Dr. David Dampier (Dean, College of Engineering and Computer Sciences);
  • Dr. Gregory K. Michaelson (Associate Dean, College of Engineering and Computer Sciences);
  • Dr. Doohee Lee (Professor & Associate Dean for Academic Programs);
  • Dr. Eric Blough (Dean, School of Pharmacy) and
  • Dr. Michael W. Prewitt (Dean, College of Health Professions).

The discussions focused on fostering collaborations in areas such as joint research initiatives, student and faculty exchange programs, collaborative academic ventures, and research and development projects.

Special acknowledgment is due to Dr. Nandini Manne (Associate Dean) and our alumnus Er. Arun Subramony (1990 mechanical) for their instrumental role in organizing and coordinating the visit. The team also extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Zelidath Rivas, Assistant Provost, for her significant support in facilitating interactions across various departments.

The visit marked a meaningful step toward strengthening ties between TKM College of Engineering and Marshall University. Both institutions expressed strong interest in pursuing collaborative opportunities in research, education, training, and innovation.

The next phase will involve finalizing the frameworks for partnerships between corresponding schools and departments, aimed at nurturing a sustainable and impactful academic collaboration.

TKM College of Engineering extends its sincere gratitude to all the faculty and administrators at Marshall University for their warm hospitality and enthusiastic support during the visit.

10th April 2025: TKM initiates collaborations with University of Oslo, Norway

The TKM team comprising of principal Dr.Sajeeb.R, Dr Adarsh. S and Dr.Rijo Jacob Thomas had a meeting with Prof.Lena Merete Tallaksen (Professor and Head of Physical Geography and Hydrology) and Prof. Chong-Yu Xu (Professor in Physical Geography and Hydrology) of the Department of Geoscience, University of Oslo, Norway on 10th April 2025. This scheduled meeting was initiated by Dr. Adarsh as suggested by Prof. Lena and was cartied out as a part of the ongoing travel of the TKM team in Germany and Norway to strengthen international tieups with internationally reputed academic institutions. It is expected that this association may lead to the development of a mutual research collaborations between both the institutions.

7th April 2025: MoU Signed between TKM College of Engineering and University of Oulu, Finland

A landmark moment in the history of TKM College of Engineering was marked with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Oulu, Finland. The ceremony took place on 7th April 2025 at Oulu, Finland and was attended by esteemed representatives from both institutions.

The collaboration was initiated by Prof. Ali Thorabi of Oulu University and Prof. Adarsh.S. of the Civil Engineering Department of TKMCE, through their joint research activities involving students.

The ceremony was followed by a luncheon, which was attended by all delegates, along with Dr. Haroon and his family. Post lunch presentation from Oulu's school of management team and pedagogy training team was another highlight. and TKM team also visited various labs and research works including its Central library.

This MoU marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between TKM College of Engineering and the University of Oulu, Finland, paving the way for future joint initiatives and exchanges.

4th April 2025: Collaboration Initiated with Technical University of Munich

TKM team led by Principal Dr.Sajeeb R, visited Technical University of Munich(TUM) on 4th April 2025 and held discussions with professors of Civil Engineering department for possible tie ups and collaboration. Dr Adarsh, Dean Academics, made a presentation about his research on hydrology, which is of great importance to TUM and was widely appreciated by all attendees. The discussions focused mainly on joint research, joint publications and student internships. On behalf of TUM, Prof.Dr.Ing. Karl Broich, Senior Researcher, Chair of Hydrology and River Basin Management, Prof. Dr.Ing. Markus Disse, Head of the Chair of Hydrology and River Basin Management, and Prof. Dr.Ing. Antonios Taskarestos, Chair of Traffic Engineering and Control,School of Engineering and Design, participated in the meeting. Representing TKMCE, Dr.SudheerA, Dean of Alumni Affairs & International Collaborations, Dr.Rijo Jacob Thomas, Dean Strategic planning &foreign students advisor and Mr.Althaf, our alumnus and student at TUM also participated. TKMCE expects to develop a great relationship and fruitful outcomes by proper collaboration with TUM in near future.

A delegation from University of New castle led by its Vice Chancellor and president, Professor Alex Zelinsky and TKM team led by its Chairman Sri. Shahal Hassan Musaliar held discussions today at TKM trust office and signed a letter of intent to mark the official beginning of collaboration between the two institutes. This LoI will help to build very strong relationship in terms of academic and research collaboration, joint publications, student internships, higher studies and twinning programs in future. Representing the University of New castle other attendees were Professor Kent Anderson-Deputy Vice Chancellor Global, Professor Craig Simmons-Pro vice Chancellor of College of Engineering, Science and environment, Professor Ajayan Vinu-Laureate Professor of Nano materials and Director of the Global innovative Centre at UNC, Dr.Gurpreet Singh-Associate director for South Asia and Mr.Irfan Malik -National associate chair and President of the NSW Chapter, Australia-India business council.
