Department of Civil Engineering, TKMCE successfully completed the consultancy project on "Detailed Project Report for the Pollution Abatement of Pampa River from Mannar to Thakazhy " for Water Resources Department, (WRD) Govt of Kerala. Dr. M. Sirajuddin, HoD handed over the completed report to Shri. K. Krishnankutty, Honorable Minister for Water Resources, Kerala in the Minister's chamber in the presence of Shri. T. K. Jose, Additional Chief Secretary, WRD, Shri Alex Varghese, Chief Engineer (I & A), Shri Nadeer A., Executive Engineer (Irrigation) and Dr. Priya K. L., Coordinator of the project. The Department was appreciated by the Addl. Chief Secretary WRD and Chief Engineer ( I & A) for being the first to submit the report among the 39 Engineering colleges in Kerala.



The final year B.Tech Civil Engineering students - Mr.Akshay Mohan S, Mr.Rithwik M., Mr.Sharan M. and Mr.George B. Thomas (Team Kartegis) was selected as the WINNERS of all India contest on QGIS based mapathon jointly organized by ISRO, IIT Bombay and AICTE . Around 5000 teams all over India contested in this event. The contest mainly emphasized on creating maps in QGIS for solving one of the 12 problem statements. Team Kartegis selected the topic on flood map using SWAT plugin in QGIS.



MoU with University of Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) & TKM College of Engineering
Department of Civil Engineering initiated an MoU with University of Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) & TKMCE. Dr.M.Sirajuddin, HoD, Department of Civil Engineering received the signed MoU from Hon'ble Chairman Dr.T.K. Shahal Hassan Musaliar. This function was graced with the presence of Dr. T A Shahul Hameed, Principal TKMCE, Dr. K.E.Reby Roy, Dean internationalcollaboration & Dr.Priya K.L., MoU Coordinator. This MoU will foster more collaborative activities among the various activities of both the institutes. University of Philippines is one among the top 400 universities in the world ranking.



'Merit Evening' honouring the exceptional achievements & excellence by faculty and students
The Department of Civil Engineering organised 'Merit Evening' honouring the exceptional achievements & excellence by faculty and students during the last one year. In this occasion, the Principal, Dr. T.A. Shahul Hameed also released the department magazine 'KEYSTONE' by handing over the first copy to the HOD Dr. M. Sirajjudin.
The Awardees include :
1) Dr.Adarsh S. was recognised with honour for receiving prestigious awards such as:
i)Excellence in Research award from IIT Bombay in 2018 from the Hon'ble Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi,
ii) Outstanding Reviewer Recognition 2019 from ASCE Journal of Hydrologic Engineering,
iii) Sivapalan Young Scientists Travel Award (SYSTA) by International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) (2020) ,
iv) AICTE-Texas Instrument certificate of appreciation for fostering Government-Academia-Industry Interaction (2020) & for his immense contributions. Published 31 SCI indexed journal papers and 12 SCI indexed publications with 24 partners of 16 international universities.
2) Dr Indu M. S. recieved the honour for being granted an Indian patent for developing ‘A METHOD FOR COATING LEAD DIOXIDE ON MILD STEEL BY ELECTRODEPOSITION FROM ALKALINE BATH AND COATED ELECTRODE' as part of her doctoral research work at IIT Kharagpur.
3) Smt. Aayisha S. Ahamed was honoured for securing 'First rank in Btech Civil Engg Degree (2020 Batch) and 3rd highest CGPA across all streams from APJKTU.
4) Shri. Ameen S.(C7) recieved the honour for securing exceptional score (98.48 percentile) in CAT 2020.
5) Shri. Vishnu M. Shaji( 2020 Batch) was honoured in recognition of his selfless and outstanding contributions as Civil Association Secretary.
6) Shri. Venugopal(C5) recieved the recognition for his creative design for the Civil engg' magazine "KEYSTONE".



Detailed Topographic Survey Report for the NH-744 Widening Project
Dr. M Sirajuddin, Head of Department of Civil Engineering, TKMCE handed over the 'Detailed Topographic Survey Report' for the NH-744 widening project to Smt. J. Mercykutty Amma, Hon'ble Minister, Kerala State. The report was handed over in the presence of Shri. Sheik Pareed I. A. S., PWD Chief Engineer , PWD Officials & members of the Ministerial staff. The survey works were completed in two phases(Phase 1- Koickal - Karicode, Phase 2- Kundara stretch). The dedicated team of faculty and staff included: Prof. R Hazeena, Dr.Muhammed Sidhik, Prof. Sarif N, Prof. Mohammed Thowsif, Dr. Munavar Fairooz. C, Prof. Athul M. Madhu, Smt. Zajna R & members of Technical staff. The survey works were undertaken & successfully completed in a time bound manner allaying all fears posed by the pandemic & following all COVID-19 protocols. The NH-744 widening project is one among the many prestigious government projects for which the Department of Civil Engineering has offered its technical expertise this year.
