American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter, TKM College of Engineering (TKMCE), Kollam is a professional society that aims at the holistic development of students into full-fledged Civil Engineers to serve society. Its mission is to equip students to cope with new developments in technology and professional practices, to incorporate ethical, social and environmental perspectives in their field of work and to nurture creativity and interpersonal skills.

Institution of Engineers India (IEI) Student Chapter (Civil)

Institution of Engineers (India) Civil student chapter (SE/691005/TKMCE/CV) is the first student chapter of IE (India) started in the institution, way back in 1995. In 2015, the chapter has been revamped under the leadership of Dr. Adarsh S. With the effective follow ups of Dr. Adarsh S., the institution received institutional membership (IM0003885) in 2016.

Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) Student Chapter, TKMCE

Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) is a prestigious professional body committed to the advancement and promotion of Geotechnical Engineering. IGS Student Chapter encourages and promotes the study and practice of Geotechnical Engineering among the younger generation. The IGS TKMCE Student Chapter was inaugurated on 14 th September 2023 by Dr. Anil Joseph (President, Indian Geotechnical Society). The executive committee started their activities in November 2023 under the presence and support of Dr. Amal Azad Sahib, faculty advisor of the IGS TKMCE Student chapter and Civil Engineering Association.

The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) TKMCE Student Chapter successfully completed the orientation for first-year students on November 4, 2024, at 3:30 PM in the EEE Seminar Hall. The program aimed at introducing new students to the chapter’s mission and activities while fostering a friendly and collaborative environment.
The event featured interactive sessions and engaging games, encouraging students to connect and work together, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. With a sense of enthusiasm and anticipation for upcoming initiatives, the orientation marked the start of an exciting academic journey in geotechnical engineering for the first-year students.

Institution of Engineers (India)


The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] civil chapter is a professional body of civil engineers with the responsibility to promote the general advancement of civil engineering and its application amongst its members.
The Institution has been serving the engineering fraternity to promote the study of civil engineering, to elevate, recognize and update the technical knowledge and practice of students. IEI inculcate amongst students a growing commitment to the social objectives of the profession. IEI issues membership certification, chartered Engineer, Professional and International Professional Engineer certifications in various disciplines of civil engineering, conducts its research and provides grant aid for students. It also organizes technical activities. IEI provide a platform for the students to share their expertise to benefit.
The students can participate in technical events activities and talks of the students’ chapter. They have the opportunity to meet fellow engineers for professional interaction. Reimbursement of travelling expenses to students selected for presentation of technical papers in Technicians’/Students’ Convention of IEI. EnggTalks and newsletter have been launched for student chapter members as a community to interact amongst the engineering fraternity and many more. All eligible engineering students can join the institution through an application form along with payment.
