Water Research Laboratory has been commissioned to cater the requirements for undertaking major research and consultancy activities related to the field of water. The experimental set-up for carrying out research in flocculation and settling of cohesive sediments, water and wastewater treatment has been developed. The lab has the facilities for the bacteriological analysis of water as well. The major areas of consultancy activities pertain to water quality testing for drinking, construction and irrigation purposes, design of facilities for the treatment of water and wastewater, development of management action plans for the rejuvenation of water bodies, solid waste routing and management system. The major consultancy projects undertaken include “Preparation of Detailed Project Report for the rejuvenation and conservation of Thamarachal lake, Puliyoor” for LSGD Alappuzha and Detailed Project Report for “Abatement of Polluted Stretch of Pampa River from Mannar to Thakazhy” for Water Resources Department, GoK. The major research outcomes include publication of 2 book chapters, 20 international journal papers in reputed journals during the past three years. Two research scholars are attached to the lab. Over 40 B. Tech students take up project works utlilizing the lab every year.
